It is a special calling to serve as lead organist here at Transfiguration. I find it a great gift to share the organ bench with Mark Oglesby, my most accomplished partner in service to this congregation. My own studies have spanned nearly a lifetime at organs, from grade school onward through universities, with early teachers forming my style.

They mentored as I studied keyboard technique, expression and interpretation. In recent years, the extraordinary Levet family house organ has provided daily and consistent rehearsal time. Hymnology studies, along with my library of hymnals, feed my soul. In recent years, I've had the privilege to play in Europe.

While my home-base for liturgical music leans to the German baroque it is also the Flemish, French and early English that bring life and vitality to my favored repertoire and to the liturgical worship calendar. I would not be here were it not for the encouragement of my father, himself an organist. Prior to our move to Sisters, I served as assistant organist on the large new Jaeckel pipe organ at First Presbyterian, Portland and raised funds for it in 2000.

I had played most recently at First Presbyterian, Bend. It has been an honor to work with the late Lindsey Simmons on the new Rodgers organ installation at Transfiguration. We are indeed blessed at Transfiguration to have this significant instrument in our midst. As you sing along with this new instrument, it is a blessing to have the voices of each of you in this cherished sanctuary.
